At your fingertips is a full laboratory, endoscopy, laser therapy, PCR-testing, multiple surgical suites, digital dental, CT scan, an expansive ICU unit, and more. At Cedar Animal Hospital, we know the skills of a Licensed Veterinary should be used to their fullest capacity. In order to deliver 24-hour care to our most critical patients, having a well-trained staff is imperative 24 hours a day. If you are driven to make a difference in the lives of people and animals, we would love to have you join our team. Licensed Veterinary Technicians have completed 2-4 years of post-high school education and have an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology. They must pass a credentialing examination and keep up-to-date with continuing education to keep their veterinary technician license.

Skills needed for this position:

  • Obtain and record patient case histories
  • Collect specimens and perform laboratory procedures
  • Provide specialized nursing care with or without a doctor present
  • Communicate with doctors regarding important patient status updates
  • Prepare animals, instruments, and equipment for surgery
  • Assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures
  • Educate animal owners
  • Supervise and train veterinary assistants

When a pet owner walks through our doors or calls us on the phone, the Customer Care Team is their first point of contact. Job Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and patients into the building
  • Answer phones by 3rd ring
  • Relay/record accurate and thorough messages
  • Input client/pet information into the computer accurately
  • Schedule appointments appropriately according to appointment guidelines
  • Direct calls and questions to the appropriate staff
  • Document communications in the client CommLog
  • Process payments
  • Properly scan/fax/attach/email records and documents
  • Performing appointment/surgery reminder calls
  • Maintaining a friendly, clean, and professional lobby and reception area
  • Addressing sympathy cards
  • Calling clients when cremains are ready to be picked up
  • Accurately filling prescription medications

Boarding is a wonderful option for our clients when they are away and need care for their pets. We offer boarding for a variety of species including dogs, cats, birds, and pocket pets. When working in our kennel, you are responsible for the care and cleanliness of the animals entrusted to us.

Job Responsibilities

  • Answer boarding client phone calls, make proper reservations
  • Confirm reservation via phone call to clients, checking vaccine histories, making any necessary appointments to update vaccines
  • Correctly complete paperwork for boarders
  • Enter client and pet information (including vaccination dates) into Avimark and Instinct
  • Cleaning kennel areas, including cages, runs, yards, floors, etc
  • Boarding and hospital laundry (NOT surgery laundry)
  • Exercising boarding pets outside/out of kennel multiple times a day
  • Feeding pets with correct food and frequency as per owner’s instructions
  • Monitor and record intake and output of boarding pets
  • Notify medical staff when abnormalities in pets activity/condition occur
  • Maintain a clean exercise yard: poop scoop at once and rinse urine regularly, clean litter boxes and change cage paper/bedding
  • Help Veterinary Assistants with stocking exam rooms and treatment areas
  • Assist Team members as needed
