Sharyn
Lead Licensed Veterinary Technician
Sharyn is a familiar face to customers at Cedar Animal Hospital. She is a licensed veterinary technician and serves as our lead outpatient technician. Sharyn received her veterinary technician degree from Baker College in Cadillac. She was with an animal clinic in Big Rapids for 10 years, before joining Cedar Animal Hospital in 2018.
Helsel said she decided to become a veterinary technician because she wanted to help animals and learn more about them. “I want to be somebody that animals know they can trust,” she said.
In her job as lead outpatient tech, Sharyn makes sure things are running smoothly for appointments; keeps the veterinary assistants busy by assigning tasks; trains with the veterinary assistants; and maintains the Idexx lab equipment with weekly cleanings and monthly quality control audits.
What does Sharyn like about working at Cedar Animal Hospital?
“I like the wide range of species we see here,” said Helsel. “I also like the people I work with. The teamwork is great. We step up and help each other a lot.”
Why does Sharyn think someone should bring their pet to Cedar Animal Hospital?
“People should bring their animals here because they get good quality care; we have experienced doctors; and compassionate staff,” she said.
