Valerie is not only a licensed veterinary technician, but she is also lead hospital surgical technician at Cedar Animal Hospital. She started here as a high school student intern in 2007—and she still loves it. “I worked full time and went to school full time to get my degree and my license, and they stuck with me,” explained Valerie. “It was hard, but it was worth it.”
After graduating from Sparta High School, she attended Baker College, and then transferred to Sanford Brown, where she received her veterinary technician degree.
What does Valerie like about working at Cedar Animal Hospital?
“I love how Dr. Nauta lets me use all my skills; I love the varied species we get to see here; and I love being involved in surgery, which is my big passion. We prep and assist the doctor in surgeries such as spays and neuters, orthopedic surgeries, and emergencies,” explained Valerie. “It keeps my skills sharp.”
Why does Valerie think someone should bring their pet to Cedar Animal Hospital?
Valerie feels Cedar Animal Hospital has more to offer than many veterinarian practices due to the modern tools they use in the practice and their professional but compassionate care.
“We offer a wide variety of services—not just vaccines. We offer ultrasound, CT scans, digital radiography, surgery, and urgent/emergency care. We can see exotics as well. All of us here are passionate about what we do and care about our clients and patients. I love our motto that we are here to make a difference in the lives of people and pets.”
